An IAS Officer Running Two YouTube Channels

Exam season is stressful for the students and their parents. Proper guidance can however, help them sail through smoothly. This is why Additional Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) Ms. Sheela Dahima has been making motivational videos for students titled ‘Baatein Kaam Ki’. She uploads them on YouTube. 

In a conversation with Indian Masterminds, Ms. Dahima spoke about how she came up with the idea and how she owns another YouTube channel for her poems and songs . 

HOW IT STARTED 

 Ms. Dahima feels that an IAS officer has responsibility towards public and society. That’s why she broadened the role of MPBSE from merely conducting exam and laying out syllabus. “Students need our special attention and guidance. Covid in added to the overall negativity. That’s why positive thoughts are needed so that they do not fail in life even if they do not perform well in exams,” she told Indian Masterminds.

She consulted her seniors with the idea spread to motivate students to cope up with stress and instill ethical values in them. Her seniors were supportive and suggested her to make videos as Ms. Dahima has already been doing that to showcase her poems and singing. 

BRAINSTORMING 

Soon after a YouTube Channel was created for MPBSE and Ms. Dahima starting preparing the content. Till now more than eight videos of ‘Baatein Kaam ki’ have been uploaded on the channel. These are on different topics like ‘Exam Preparation’, Self-love, Gratitude, ‘Expression of Emotions’ etc.

Making of these videos was not a day’s job. Ms. Dahima wrote and sang the title song of Baatein Kaam Ki. She also selected the topics and shot the videos. She says, ‘I wanted it to be more like a discussion so that it won’t be dull and boring. So for first two videos we took help of female staff of the department. After that a Hindi teacher of Model School Bhopal (Under MPBSE) has been anchoring in the videos.”

All these videos have been produced by her with help of associates and no external help has been taken. Most of the scripting part for the videos has been taken care by Ms Dahima only. Videos have been shot at various places in Bhopal.

Deciding the topics was also important videos should be useful not only to the students but for everyone. “Most of the topics are result of my personal experience and observance. We wanted to cover each issue that they face,” she says.

EXPANDING THE REACH 

While the videos are already garnering good views on the YouTube, Ms. Dahima and her team is using other media too. Videos are sent to parents through WhatsApp and students are also shown these in schools. She says, “We want every students to watch this and get benefitted. I want them to do well and explore their other talents too.”

Ms Dahima is a woman of multiple talents. She owns her personal YouTube Channel as well in which she present her poems, songs and other activities. Since childhood she had this dream of making songs and for YouTube. she got an opportunity and how!
