Indian Masterminds exclusively spoke with the officer to know more about his passion, and how he manages his busy schedule.

PASSION IGNITED

The 2008-batch officer’s journey into the realm of long-distance running traces back to his college days, where he initially dabbled in shorter distances.

However, in 2018, spurred on by a friend, he ventured into the realm of half-marathons. What began as a single challenge soon transformed into a fervent pursuit as Mr. Singh found himself drawn to the exhilaration of crossing the finish lines and pushing his limits.

“Since then, I have been participating in numerous half and full marathons across Mumbai, covering distances as long as 100 kilometers,” shared Mr. Singh.

LEAP INTO THE ULTRA REALM

The allure of ultra marathons, races that extend beyond the traditional marathon distance, captivated Mr. Singh’s adventurous spirit. Encouraged by his friend, he embarked on gruelling training regimens, gradually increasing his mileage to prepare for the daunting challenge.

His dedication was put to the ultimate test on December 17, 2023, when he conquered a staggering 75-kilometre uphill run – an achievement that fortified his resolve. Undeterred by the formidable distances, the officer is currently gearing up for his next feat: a 100-kilometre ultra marathon in Kangra on March 10.

PREPARATION AND DISCIPLINE

Preparing for such arduous endeavors demands unwavering discipline, sincerity, and consistency – a trifecta that Mr. Singh embodies both in his professional and personal life. His training regimen entails a meticulously structured schedule, comprising rigorous workouts, proper nutrition, and ample rest.

Balancing his administrative duties with his passion for running, the officer adheres to a routine that sees him rising at dawn for morning runs and dedicating evenings to gym sessions.

“I reserve my weekends for longer runs, ranging from 20 to 25 kilometers, thus gradually building my endurance and stamina,” he told Indian Masterminds.

HARMONY BETWEEN CAREER AND PASSION

Remarkably, Mr. Singh has seamlessly harmonized his career aspirations with his fervent pursuit of running. Grateful for the understanding and support of his superiors, he has never encountered obstacles in balancing work commitments with his racing endeavors.
