MA Ganapathy, the officer who investigated the first match fixing scandal while working in the CBI is retiring on February 29. A 1986 batch IPS officer of Uttarakhand cadre, Ganapathy in his long and distinguished career in the IPS served as Uttarakhand DGP, joint secretary (internal security) in the ministry of home affairs, head of airport sector in the CISF, chief of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and finally as DG of National Security Guard, the commando force.
The MHA is yet to appoint his full time successor and as of now, the charge of DG, NSG has been given to Sashastra Seema Bal chief Daljit Chaudhry in additional capacity. The MHA order says Chaudhary will hold the additional charge for three months or until a regular appointment of new DG, NSG is made.
