Senior IPS officer Brijesh Singh has been appointed Principal Secretary to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This is the first time in recent years that a senior IPS officer has been appointed to this powerful position.
An IPS officer of the 1996 batch, Singh was one of the powerful bureaucrats during Mr Devendra Fadnavis’s Chief Ministership, occupying the coveted post of Director General of Information and Public Relations in addition to being in charge of the Cyber Crime branch which directly reported to the Chief Secretary. Later, Mr Singh was shifted to the post of Additional Director General (Home Guards) by the Uddhav Thackeray government.
The CMO currently, comprises Additional Chief Secretary Bhushan Gagrani and Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge.

Additional DG rank officers Vinit Agrawal, head of the ATS, Bipin Kumar Singh, police commissioner of Navi Mumbai, and Prabhat Kumar, ADG, Anti-Corruption, have been relieved of their posts and are awaiting new positions.
