Bureaucratic Rejig at Additional Secretary Level in GoI

IAS officers appointed as Additional Secretaries in various ministries/departments after a bureaucratic reshuffle made by the Modi government.

The Modi government on Wednesday issued transfer and postings of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to the Additional Secretary level in the Government of India.

The officers who have been transferred are:

  1. Amrit Lal Meena (IAS:1989:BH) has been appointed as Additional Secretary (Logistics), Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry by temporarily downgrading the post of Special Secretary (Logistics), Department of Commerce to Additional Secretary level. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
  2. Sudhir Garg (IAS:1990:UP) has been appointed as Additional Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
  3. Jayant Sinha (IA&AS:1990) has been appointed as Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
  4. Sanjiv Kumar (IAS:1992:AGMUT) has been appointed as Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (North), Food Corporation of India, Department of Food and Public Distribution.
  5. Kamlesh Kumar Pant (IAS:1993:HP) has been appointed as Chairperson, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, Department of Pharmaceuticals in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary vice Ms. Shubhra Singh (IAS:1989:RJ).
  6. Sanjay Garg (IAS:1994:KL) has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture Research & Education and Secretary, Indian Council of Agriculture Research. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
  7. Ms Suman Sharma (IRS-IT:1990) has been appointed as Managing Director, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (JS level) under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. Presently, he is serving as Additional DGFT, Directorate of Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce.
  8. Tanmay Kumar (IAS:1993:RJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change. He will also hold the additional charge of Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board. Presently, he is serving as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power.

Further, the ACC also approved the in-situ up-gradation of four IAS officers to the level of Additional Secretary by temporarily upgrading the posts held by them in their respective ministries/departments.

  1. Shantmanu (IAS:1991:J&K) has been appointed Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.
  2. Sanjay Rastogi (IAS:1991:OR) has been appointed as Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.
  3. Sudeep Jain (IAS:1994:TN) has been appointed as Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.
  4. Amit Kumar Ghosh (IAS:1994:UP), has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
