In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, the Gujarat government issued a notification regarding the promotion of five Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to the post of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) on 10 August 2020. Four of these IAS officers were holding the charge of Principal Secretary in various departments and the fifth officer was posted as the Managing Director.
Kamal Dayani a senior IAS officer of 1990 batch was promoted to the post of Additional Chief Secretary to Government (Personnel) and will be appointed to officiate in General Administrative Department, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar. He was currently holding the charge of Principal Secretary to Government (Personnel).
Manoj Kumar Das, 1990-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre has been promoted as Additional Chief Secretary to government and will be serving as Addl. Chief Secretary to Chief Minister in Chief Minister Office, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar. He was previously holding the position of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Manoj Aggarwal a batch-mate of Das and Dayani has also been promoted to the post of Additional Chief Secretary to government and will be looking after Social Justice and Empowerment Department at Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar. He was currently posted as the Principal Secretary to government, Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
Chandra Vanu Som an IAS officer who was currently posted as Principal Secretary to Government, Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department has been promoted to the post of Additional Chief Secretary in the same department.
Lastly, Arunkumar M Solanki who was holding the charge of Managing Director, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd., Ahmedabad has been promoted as the Addition Chief Secretary to government. He will also be appointed to continue to function as the Managing Director, GMDC.
