17 Senior IPS Officers Transferred in West Bengal

The Bengal government on Tuesday 26 April, issued a transfer order of 17 senior IPS officers. This brings three cops to Kolkata Police, one to Bidhannagar and five as district police superintendents.
Rajesh Kumar Yadav, who was with the Bengal Special Task Force (STF), will be the new additional commissioner at Kolkata Police. Along with him, Surya Pratap Yadav will be the new DCP (detective department-special) and Praween Prakash the DCP (cyber crime). Debasmita Das will be the new Bidhannagar Police DCP (headquarters).
Among the district police superintendents, Avijit Banerjee, who headed the Diamond Harbour police district, will now head the Ranaghat police district. Former SP Sayak Das, who was supervising the Hanskhali rape-murder probe till it was handed to CBI by the Calcutta HC, will now be a CID special superintendent.
Dhritiman Sarkar, earlier the Bankura police superintendent, will now take charge of the Diamond Harbour police district. Sarkar’s former post will be taken over by Vaibhav Tiwari. Pradeep Kumar Yadav will be the new Malda SP and Pushpa the new Baruipur SP.
In other transfers, Nidhi Rani will be the new Chandernagore police DCP (headquarters), Aishwariya Sagar the officer-on-special-duty (OSD) in East Midnapore and Shraddha N Pandey the additional SP (Haldia). Its present incumbent, Partha Ghosh, will move as the ASP (Darjeeling).
Sources called the transfers “routine” but the reshuffle came in the backdrop of several incidents being reported from districts.
