Mumbai: In a significant reshuffle, the Maharashtra government on Friday transferred 11 senior IPS officers, including prominent figures such as ADG (Administration) Nikhil Gupta and ADG (Highway Police) Suresh Mekhla. According to a notification issued by the state’s Home Department, several officers have been promoted and reassigned to new posts as part of the restructuring.
Notably, 1996 batch IPS officer Nikhil Gupta has been appointed as the ADG (Law and Order), while Suresh Mekhla has been shifted to the role of ADG (Economic Offences Wing). While 2005 batch IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, who was on Central deputation for five years, has been appointed as IGP (Law and Order). The IPS officer, known for his role in the movie 12th Fail, has returned from his central deputation and assumed the position of IG of state law and order.
The reshuffle also sees the promotion of several officers:
- 2000 batch IPS officer Yashasvi Yadav, Special Inspector General of Maharashtra Cyber, has been elevated to ADG in the same role.
- Suhas Warke, also an IPS officer of 2000 batch and previously IGP for the Protection of Civil Rights, has been promoted to ADG Prisons.
- Aswathi Dorje, formerly IGP for the Prevention of Atrocities against Women and Children, has been promoted to ADG for the same post.
- Chhering Dorje, IGP (Law and Order), has been promoted as ADG (Special Operations).
- KMM Prasanna, IGP (Establishment), has been promoted and made ADG (Administration).
Other transfers include:
- R B Dahale, Director of the State Intelligence Academy, has been transferred as Special IGP of the Pune-based State Crime Records Centre.
- Ashok Morale, former IGP of SRPF, is now the new IGP of the Motor Transport Section in Pune.
- Rajiv Jain, DIG (SRPF), has been promoted to IG in the same role.
- Abhishek Trimukhe has been appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) in Mumbai.
- Shrenik Lodha, formerly Additional SP in Aheri, Gadchiroli, has been posted as Additional SP in Buldhana.
The reshuffle and promotions are expected to bring renewed focus and efficiency to the state’s law enforcement agencies, particularly in areas like law and order, economic offences, and cyber security.
