Patna/Delhi: In a significant move ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, the Bihar Police has appointed senior officers to crucial roles to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.
1994 batch IPS officer Kundan Krishnan, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG) at Bihar Police Headquarters, has been appointed as the State Nodal Police Officer for the elections.
1995 batch IPS officer Pankaj Darad, ADG Law and Order and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has been designated as the State Coordinator of the Central Forces.
Meanwhile, 1996 batch IPS officer Kamal Kishore Singh, ADG, will handle responsibilities related to the election budget.
Sources indicate that the Bihar Police will soon begin the process of assessing security forces and marking sensitive booths to ensure peaceful elections. As part of the preparation, a one-day orientation program was organized by the Election Commission in Delhi on Wednesday. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar addressed the police officers in attendance.
A total of 69 officials, including the three ADGs from Bihar – Kundan Krishnan, Pankaj Darad, and Kamal Kishore Singh – as well as IGs, DIGs, SPs, and DSPs, participated in the meeting. The officers were briefed on the administrative preparations and key working methods required for the upcoming elections. Special emphasis was placed on the duties and impartiality of police officers before and during the election period, with a focus on the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
