In a major reshuffle at the top echelons of the Uttar Pradesh Police, three senior IPS officers from the 1992 batch—Mr. Ashutosh Pandey, Mr. Anand Swaroop, and Ms. Neera Rawat—have been elevated to the rank of Director General (DG). The promotions come in the wake of the recent retirements of senior officers Mr. P.V. Ramasastry, Mr. Sanjay Tarade, and Mr. Prashant Kumar.
Mr. Ashutosh Pandey currently heads the Economic Offences Wing as Additional Director General (ADG), Mr. Anand Swaroop is posted at the Police Headquarters in Lucknow, while Ms. Neera Rawat leads UP 112, the state’s integrated emergency response service.
Further changes are anticipated in the coming weeks. Mr. Ashish Gupta, who is currently serving as DG, Rules and Manual, is expected to take voluntary retirement on June 10. Following his retirement, Mr. S.B. Shiradkar, the ADG of Lucknow Zone, is likely to be promoted to DG rank to fill the vacancy.
Additionally, on June 30, Mr. Aditya Mishra, DG Fire Services, will retire, creating another opening that may pave the way for the promotion of Mr. Kalluri P. Kumar, ADG Gorakhpur. In the months to follow, DG-level retirements are also expected in other departments including Home Guards (Mr. B.K. Maurya), Training (Ms. Tilotma Verma), and Civil Defence (Mr. Abhay Prasad).
At present, Uttar Pradesh has DG-level positions across several vital wings such as Training, Prisons, Telecommunications, Prosecution, Home Guards, Vigilance, UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Rules and Manual, Civil Defence, Power Corporation, Awas Nigam, Fire Services, and CID.
