The award, given by EEPC Northern Region, acknowledges SAIL’s exemplary contribution to India’s engineering exports sector during a critical period marked by the global COVID-19 pandemic. EEPC India, which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, is the country’s premier trade and investment promotion organisation for the engineering sector.

During the financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21, SAIL successfully exported 1.17 million tonnes and 1.9 million tonnes of steel, respectively, bringing in valuable foreign exchange at a time when the nation was grappling with lockdowns and disrupted global supply chains.

The felicitation ceremony took place on 28 May 2025 in New Delhi, where the award was presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms. Rekha Gupta, alongside the German Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Dr. Philipp Ackermann.
