During his inaugural address, IAS Amit Kumar emphasized the critical role of electric vehicles (EVs) and solar power in mitigating climate change. He highlighted that the integration of these technologies is crucial for a sustainable future. Chandigarh, he noted, has solidified its position as a “Green City” by actively adopting solar power, with government buildings and residential sectors installing solar panels to reduce fossil fuel dependency, leading to cleaner air and a healthier environment.
Dr. Rajesh Prasad, Zonal Manager, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Chandigarh, stressed the importance of energy self-sufficiency for national progress. He pointed out that while certain companies generate energy, a large portion of India’s 1.4 billion population consumes it. However, initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Yojana are reversing this trend, enabling consumers to become energy producers through solar panel installations. Dr. Prasad reaffirmed PNB’s commitment to supporting green projects, stating that the bank provides subsidized loans for solar initiatives and collaborates with solar companies at the district level. He also noted that PNB is a leader in green field projects, offering financial assistance to young entrepreneurs and women without collateral, in alignment with India’s vision for development by 2047.
Madhusudan Vij, Chair, Chandigarh Chapter, PHDCCI, announced that over 50 solar energy and charging station companies are participating in the expo, along with 100 companies, including Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra, showcasing their latest innovations during the three-day event.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Suvrat Khanna, Co-Chair, Chandigarh Chapter, PHDCCI, highlighted the transformative impact of EVs on sustainable transportation. He noted that EV adoption reduces air pollution, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and improves energy efficiency, thereby promoting a low-carbon future.
Adv. Lokesh Jain, Co-Chair, Haryana State Chapter, PHDCCI, described the REV Expo as a crucial milestone in the journey toward a greener future. He emphasized that the EV revolution will accelerate the transition to smart and environmentally friendly cities, expressing gratitude to the event’s partners for their continued support.
