Strengthening Bihar’s Health Infrastructure

In his message on social media platform X, CM Nitish Kumar said that the appointment of 4,954 ANMs will significantly strengthen Bihar’s healthcare system.

He expressed confidence that their dedication would ensure:

  • Better maternal and child healthcare
  • Improved immunization coverage
  • Stronger family planning services
  • Expanded primary healthcare access
  • Disease prevention at grassroots level

Key Role of ANMs in Healthcare Delivery

ANMs are considered the backbone of the rural health system. They play a vital role in:

  • Vaccination programmes
  • Maternal and newborn care
  • Primary treatment services
  • Health awareness campaigns
  • Disease prevention initiatives

Officials said this large-scale recruitment will help make primary health centres and sub-centres more functional and efficient.

Government Claims Major Push in Employment Generation

Health Minister Mangal Pandey stated that nearly 20,000 jobs have been created in the health department over the past year.

He also said that more than 2,000 health centres will now have dedicated ANM staff, improving accessibility and quality of healthcare services in rural areas.

Leadership Presence at the Event

The ceremony was attended by several senior leaders and officials, including:

  • Deputy Chief Ministers
  • Health Department officials
  • Senior administrative officers

The presence of top leadership highlighted the importance of the recruitment drive in strengthening Bihar’s healthcare system.

Possible Political Transition Ahead

CM Nitish Kumar is expected to travel to Delhi on Thursday after being elected as a Rajya Sabha member. He is scheduled to take oath on Friday. Political observers suggest that a resignation from the Chief Minister’s post may follow after his induction into the Rajya Sabha, though no official confirmation has been made.

Major Step Toward Stronger Public Healthcare

The appointment of nearly 5,000 ANMs marks a significant step toward improving Bihar’s healthcare delivery system. The initiative is expected to enhance primary healthcare services, strengthen rural health infrastructure, and create better employment opportunities in the state.
