JIND: Nearly a week after former IPS officer Ram Singh Yadav levelled allegations of custodial torture against him, INLD supremo Abhay Chautala on Tuesday warned of strict legal action. Yadav had claimed that in 1995, during a rail roko protest, he arrested Abhay Chautala and his brother Ajay Chautala for uprooting a rail track’s fishplate.
According to Yadav, when INLD came to power in 2000, he was allegedly arrested in 2003 under a false case, taken from Jind to Chautala village, and subjected to torture. He accused then Jind SP Manjit Ahlawat and DSP Samay Ram Kaushik of acting on Chautala’s instructions during the alleged custodial torture.
Chautala’s Response: Legal Notices and Court Action
Reacting to these claims, Abhay Chautala categorically denied all allegations and stated he would send legal notices to everyone involved. He said:
“Everyone involved in tarnishing my image will be dragged to court. Those making these accusations must either apologise or be ready to face legal action.”
He questioned the 22-year delay in raising the accusations and accused Yadav and others of trying to malign his reputation with fabricated stories.
Political Critique and Upcoming INLD Rally
During the press conference, Chautala also criticised the current BJP government in Haryana, alleging rampant corruption. He further announced that on December 3, between 500 and 700 people are expected to join the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in Chandigarh.
He asserted that the political tide is shifting in favor of INLD, predicting that his party would form the government in 2029.
