Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at a private establishment in the Govindpura industrial area of Bhopal. He also inaugurated the establishment’s logo.
Speaking at the event, Yadav described Vajpayee as a prominent figure in Indian politics and said his life represented a commitment to democratic values. He highlighted Vajpayee’s emphasis on political conduct, nationalism and good governance.
Yadav Highlights Vajpayee’s Political Legacy
Yadav said Vajpayee’s public life was associated with public service and political propriety. He cited the former prime minister’s conduct in both government and opposition as an example of democratic norms.

The chief minister also referred to Vajpayee’s emphasis on the continuity of the country and democracy beyond changes in governments.
Yadav said adopting Vajpayee’s ideas and approach to governance would be a way of paying tribute to the former prime minister.
Reference to Vajpayee’s Role During Emergency
Yadav also recalled Vajpayee’s role during the Emergency, saying he spent nearly 19 months in jail during the period.
He referred to Vajpayee’s support for the government during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, saying political differences were set aside when the country faced a major challenge.
Yadav also said younger generations should learn about Vajpayee’s roles as both a government leader and an opposition leader.
Kaptan Singh Solanki Highlights Vajpayee’s Development Initiatives
Former Madhya Pradesh governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, who attended the event, said Vajpayee placed the country above political considerations.
Solanki referred to Vajpayee’s government initiatives, including the Golden Quadrilateral highway project, and his emphasis on road connectivity. He also mentioned Vajpayee’s proposal for linking rivers as an approach to addressing water-related challenges.
Solanki said the unveiling was not only of a statue but also a reminder of Vajpayee’s contribution to public life.
The event was held at a private establishment in the Govindpura industrial area, where the statue was installed.
