Kohima: Bank of Baroda (BoB), a leading public sector bank, partnered with the Government of Nagaland for the Hornbill Festival 2025, held from 1st to 10th December at the Kisama Heritage Village near Kohima. This collaboration reflects BoB’s ongoing commitment to supporting regional development, promoting financial literacy, and fostering entrepreneurship in Northeastern India.
Engagement Stall Highlights Financial Services and Digital Banking
At the festival, Bank of Baroda set up a comprehensive engagement stall inaugurated by Mr. Temjen Imna Along, Honourable Minister of Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO of BoB, Ms. Beena Vaheed, Executive Director, and Mr. Shiba Pada Nayak, Zonal Head – North Eastern States. Also present were Mr. Veyielo Doulo, Director of Tourism, and Mr. Toka E. Tuccumi, Joint Director of Tourism.
The stall offered a wide range of services, including product demonstrations, digital banking sessions, and direct interactions with artisans, entrepreneurs, tourists, and local community groups. Visitors received information on digital payments, financial literacy programs, and business facilitation services. These initiatives align with the Government’s vision to expand formal financial access, encourage cashless transactions, and support grassroots entrepreneurship in Nagaland.

Strategic Engagement with Government Leaders
During the festival, Dr. Chand and Ms. Vaheed met Mr. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Honourable Union Minister of Communications and Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), to discuss opportunities to strengthen BoB’s engagement in the North East. The bank’s leaders were also invited as State Guests by the Nagaland Government and felicitated on the 6th day of the Hornbill Festival for their contributions toward regional development and financial empowerment.
Expanding Presence in Northeast India
Bank of Baroda has bolstered its presence in Northeast India with 3 Regional Offices and 197 branches, 61% of which are located in rural and semi-urban areas. Recently, the bank inaugurated a new Zonal Office in Guwahati, which oversees operations across all North Eastern states. This expansion supports BoB’s strategy of enhancing administrative efficiency, strengthening digital banking services, and broadening financial inclusion in underserved regions.
