Bank of India Appoints Raj Kumar Sharma as Part-Time Non-Official Director for 3 Years

The Central Government has appointed Raj Kumar Sharma to Bank of India’s Board with effect from August 12, 2026, bringing extensive experience in Company Law and corporate compliance.

Mumbai: Bank of India (BOI) has appointed Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma as a Part-Time Non-Official Director on its Board of Directors for a period of three years. The appointment is effective from August 12, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The appointment was made by the Central Government under the provisions of the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970. Bank of India disclosed the appointment to the stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations, 2015.

According to the bank’s regulatory filing, Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma has joined the Board as a Part-Time Non-Official Director following the Central Government’s notification dated August 12, 2026.

Raj Kumar Sharma’s Professional Background

Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma, aged 59, has extensive professional experience in Company Law and corporate compliance.

He holds a Law degree and a B.Com (Management) from Guwahati Commerce College. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (FCS) and has been practising as a Company Secretary since 1997.

During his professional career, Sharma has held several positions in professional and industry organisations.

He previously served as the Chairman of the North-East Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India for two terms and is currently a member of its Management Committee.

He also served as the Secretary of the Tax Bar Association, Assam, in 2006.

Experience in Professional and Social Organisations

Apart from his professional work, Raj Kumar Sharma has been associated with Marwari Yuva Manch.

He served as its National Executive Member for two terms and is currently a State Executive Member.

Sharma is also a recognised speaker on Income Tax and Company Law, adding experience in taxation and corporate legal matters to his professional profile.

Central Government Makes Appointment Under Banking Act

The appointment has been made by the Central Government under the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970.

Bank of India has submitted Sharma’s brief professional profile to the stock exchanges as part of its regulatory disclosure requirements.

The three-year tenure will continue unless the Central Government issues further orders before the completion of the term.

The appointment adds a professional with extensive experience in Company Law, taxation and corporate compliance to Bank of India’s Board.
