New Delhi: Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a significant milestone by securing the CareEdge-ESG 1 rating with an ESG score of 73.8, awarded by CARE ESG Ratings Limited, a SEBI-registered ESG rating agency. With this recognition, BEL has become the first company in India’s aerospace and defence sector to earn the highest category rating from CareEdge-ESG.

High Rating Reflects Strong Sustainability Commitment

The CareEdge-ESG 1 rating highlights BEL’s deep commitment to sustainable, transparent, and responsible business practices. According to the company, the score reflects its strong leadership in ESG integration, demonstrated through robust risk management, industry-leading disclosures, and comprehensive sustainability policies and performance indicators.

BEL’s wide-ranging initiatives—including water stewardship, emission control, waste management, responsible resource use, human capital development, and ethical business practices—played a significant role in securing the top rating.

BEL Outperforms Industry on Key ESG Metrics

BEL outperformed the industry median on several critical ESG dimensions such as biodiversity conservation, energy efficiency, data privacy, ESG oversight, sustainability practices, and community development.
The company has undertaken focused initiatives aimed at carbon emission reduction and supporting employee welfare and community upliftment programmes.
