Bangalore: BEML Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ company under the Ministry of Defence, has achieved a historic milestone by securing its first international contract for metro rolling stock. The Letter of Intent (LoI), valued at approximately USD 60 million, covers the design, manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of stainless-steel standard gauge metro coaches for an undisclosed African metro project.

This landmark order positions BEML as a global player in urban transit solutions and expands its footprint in international metro rail markets.

Scope of the African Metro Project

The contract encompasses a comprehensive suite of services, including:

  • Design and engineering of modern metro coaches
  • Manufacture and supply of stainless-steel standard gauge rolling stock
