Bureaucrats of our nation work hard, day in and out, to make our lives better and our cities brighter. We at Indian Masterminds salute their efforts and bravery. These officers are full of talent and creativity. From being an average student and still clearing the toughest examination of India to working for an entirely different state and falling in love with it; from elevating their district to coming up with colorful and vibrant ideas of spreading knowledge and awareness and using technology as a weapon again Covid19, these officers have gone out of their way to do things, for which the nation salutes them.
Here are our top five stories of true grit and determination from the month of March.
AN INSPIRING JOURNEY OF AN “AVERAGE’’ STUDENT TURNED IAS OFFICER
Among the top candidates who manage to qualify for the UPSC exam every year, we have got you an inspirational story of a 2018 batch IAS officer who managed to clear the exam in the first attempt despite being an average student throughout his life. Mr. Himanshu Kaushik’s story is the epitome of dedication and hard work- a perfect antidote for people who discourage themselves due to their grades in studies.

HAILING FROM RAJASTHAN, HIS FIRST LOVE IS KERALA
Veteran IPS officer Mr Rishiraj Singh, a man of strong personality, is also quite often admired for his gentle side- of being a connoisseur in art, music, culture, and writing. Inducted as IPS in 1985, Singh was allotted the Kerala cadre and is currently serving as DG Prisons and Correctional Services in the state. Coming to the southern state from Rajasthan where he spent his early life, Singh was among those rare officers from outside the state who adopted Kerala as his own.

THE HERO OF UDHAMPUR
The District Capital and the Northern Command headquarters of the Indian Army, Udhampur situated in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is receiving various facelifts, mainly attributed to IAS officer Dr. Piyush Singla. A 2012-batch J&K cadre, he holds the post of Deputy Commissioner there. His multiple initiatives are not only helping the farmers and people with disabilities but are also helping to complete activities that have been on hold for years.

TURNING DREAMS INTO REALITY
Pune, the smart city of Maharashtra, is already a developed place, but that doesn’t mean that it carries no scope of bringing new initiatives and new projects. The Additional Municipal Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), IAS officer, Ms. Rubal Agarwal is continuously coming up with new and innovative ideas to bring ease and color into people’s lives such as the unique ‘traffic garden’ for children and much more.

PUTTING TECHNOLOGY TO HUMAN USE
The initiatives taken by Mr. Aravindhan of 2010 batch, Superintendent of Police Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu, for monitoring of quarantined people and enabling proper social distancing in crowded places through technology, is the main reason behind bagging the Anna Medal for outstanding devotion towards duty. The officer has also previously received the prestigious Skoch Award for developing the Facetagr app- a face recognition app for the police to identify and catch criminals.
