Mohali: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday called upon the youth of the state to move beyond job-seeking and focus on becoming job creators, saying the government is actively building a strong ecosystem to support entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Addressing a public gathering during a Lok Milni in Saneta village, Mohali, the Chief Minister said Punjab is steadily creating opportunities within the state, reducing the need for youth migration abroad.
Focus on Entrepreneurship and Local Opportunities
CM Bhagwant Mann said the state government is working to develop a supportive environment for startups and small businesses.
He emphasized that:
- Youth should shift from job seekers to job creators
- Punjab is building a strong self-employment ecosystem
- Migration for employment is being reduced through local opportunities
Strong Attack on Previous Governments
Comparing his government with earlier regimes, CM Mann said previous Akali and Congress governments used to blame financial constraints, but his administration has delivered results through “clean intent and strong governance.”
He alleged that past governments focused on personal and political interests rather than public welfare, which hindered Punjab’s development.
Opposition Criticism and Political Remarks
During his address, the Chief Minister also targeted opposition parties, accusing them of spreading false allegations due to frustration over the state government’s performance.
He said:
- Opposition leaders are unable to accept development in Punjab
- False and baseless allegations are being made against him
- His government remains focused on public welfare despite criticism
Commitment to Public Welfare and Development
CM Mann reiterated that his government is committed to transparent governance and solving public issues.
He stated:
- His administration is working for overall state development
- Policies are focused on common citizens’ welfare
- Opposition attempts to derail progress will not succeed
Call for Anti-Defection Law Reform
Announcing a major political initiative, the Chief Minister said he will meet the President of India on May 5 to demand a stronger law against political defections.
He said:
- Defection by elected representatives is against public mandate
- A strict legal framework is needed to stop opportunistic party switching
- Protecting voter trust is essential for democracy
Claim of Transforming Punjab’s Governance
CM Mann asserted that in the last four years, his government has taken significant steps toward development and governance reforms.
He added:
- Long-standing issues of past decades are being addressed
- Development pace has increased significantly
- The government is implementing promises made to the people
The Punjab Chief Minister reiterated that his government is committed to creating a “Rangla Punjab” through development, transparency, and youth empowerment, while continuing to focus on job creation and economic growth within the state.
