New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has increased its dividend payout to the Government of India by more than 2.5 times to ₹283.56 crore for the financial year 2025-26, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy said on Tuesday.
The state-owned engineering company has declared a 70% final dividend for FY26, resulting in a total dividend payout of ₹487.49 crore to shareholders, including ₹283.56 crore to the Government of India.
BHEL Declares 70% Final Dividend for FY26
BHEL’s Board had recommended a final dividend of ₹1.40 per share, on shares with a face value of ₹2 each, for FY2025-26. This translates into a 70% final dividend.
The total payout of ₹487.49 crore includes:
- ₹283.56 crore to the Government of India
- ₹487.49 crore as total dividend payout to all shareholders
Kumaraswamy said the government’s dividend receipt from BHEL for FY26 is more than 2.5 times the amount received in the previous financial year.

Government’s BHEL Dividend Receipt Jumps From FY25
BHEL’s dividend contribution to the government has increased sharply compared with FY2024-25.
In the previous financial year, BHEL had paid:
- ₹109.98 crore as final dividend to the Government of India
- ₹174.10 crore as total dividend to all shareholders
The FY26 government payout of ₹283.56 crore therefore represents a substantial increase over the previous year.
The Government of India currently holds a 58.17% equity stake in BHEL, according to information available on the company’s website.
Stronger BHEL Performance Supports Higher Dividend Payout
The higher dividend comes after BHEL reported stronger business performance during FY26.
The company reported a provisional turnover of around ₹32,350 crore, representing an increase of approximately 18% year-on-year.
BHEL also secured orders worth around ₹75,000 crore during FY26, strengthening its business pipeline.
Its outstanding order book stood at approximately ₹2.4 lakh crore at the end of FY26, providing a strong base for future operations and growth.

Kumaraswamy Praises BHEL’s Contribution to Exchequer
Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said BHEL continues to set a strong benchmark in India’s public sector and is making a significant contribution to the national exchequer.
He congratulated the BHEL team for its performance and highlighted the company’s continued role in supporting the country’s industrial and economic development.
The minister also said BHEL would continue contributing towards the objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
BHEL Strengthens Role in India’s Public Sector
The rise in dividend contribution comes alongside stronger business activity, higher order inflows and an expanded order book.
With its significant government ownership, BHEL’s increased dividend payout provides a higher contribution to the national exchequer while reflecting the company’s financial and operational performance during FY26.
