Bhopal: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav witnessed the launch of several initiatives focused on urban forestry, biodiversity conservation and dairy cooperatives in Bhopal.
During the programme, an MoU between KRIBHCO and the Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board was exchanged for the development of a Nagar Van (urban forest) in Bhopal under the Morvan Project.
The event also included a state-level Gopalak Conference, where the government highlighted its initiatives and achievements in strengthening the cooperative and dairy sectors across Madhya Pradesh.
Bhopal to Get Nagar Van Under Morvan Project
Under the Morvan Project, a Nagar Van will be developed in Bhopal to expand the city’s green cover and support biodiversity conservation.
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Amit Shah and CM Mohan Yadav by Sudeep Singh, Member Secretary, Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, and S.S. Yadav, Managing Director, KRIBHCO.
The initiative aims to:
- Increase green spaces in Bhopal.
- Conserve local biodiversity and vegetation.
- Promote environmental protection in urban areas.
- Provide residents with a greener and more natural environment.
- Support the conservation of local plant species and biodiversity.

Focus on Green Cover and Environmental Conservation
The Nagar Van initiative is aimed at increasing vegetation and improving the urban environment in Bhopal.
Through the project, efforts will be made to protect local trees, plants and biodiversity while creating additional green spaces for city residents.
The initiative is also expected to contribute to environmental conservation and promote a cleaner and greener urban ecosystem.
Madhya Pradesh Forms Over 1,700 Dairy Cooperative Societies
At the state-level Gopalak Conference, the government highlighted the progress made in the cooperative and dairy sectors.
According to the information shared during the programme, more than 1,700 dairy cooperative societies have been formed in Madhya Pradesh as part of efforts to promote a dairy cooperative movement in the state.
The government also highlighted the MoU between Sanchi and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), following which milk collection in the state has increased to around 12 lakh litres per day.
The initiative has also resulted in dairy farmers and cattle rearers receiving an additional ₹8.50 per litre for their milk, according to the government.
Government Targets 50 Lakh Litres of Milk Collection Per Day
Madhya Pradesh has set a target of increasing daily milk collection to 50 lakh litres in the coming years.
The government is focusing on developing an economy based on income from milk production, with the objective of increasing earnings for farmers and cattle rearers.
The broader approach also includes using cow dung for manure and strengthening the rural economy through government-supported cooperative initiatives.
Dairy Sector Seen as Source of Income and Employment
The state government is focusing on expanding dairy production as a source of income for farmers and cattle rearers.
Higher milk production and stronger cooperative networks are expected to provide greater economic opportunities to people associated with the dairy sector.
The government also aims to create new employment opportunities for young people by expanding dairy-related economic activities across Madhya Pradesh.
