Patna: Bihar will conduct a large-scale inspection of 700 model schools developed across the state, including those in the capital Patna, to assess the changes made in the institutions and review their academic activities.
The inspection will be carried out by specially appointed nodal officers, who will examine the overall functioning of the schools. A parent-teacher meeting will also be held at all 700 model schools on the same day, bringing parents and teachers together to discuss students’ learning and academic progress.
Nodal Officers to Review Model Schools
The Education Department had given district magistrates (DMs) the responsibility of selecting a nodal officer for each model school. These officers have been assigned the task of closely reviewing the condition and functioning of the schools.
During the inspection, nodal officers will assess the positive changes made in the schools and examine the level of discipline. They will also look at whether the improvements introduced in the model schools are translating into a better academic environment for students.
The inspection is expected to provide the department with a clearer picture of how the schools are functioning on the ground and where further improvements may be required.

Focus on Infrastructure and Classroom Teaching
The inspection will cover more than just the physical appearance of the schools. Nodal officers will review the overall school system, infrastructure, classroom teaching arrangements and facilities available to students.
Officials will examine the condition of basic infrastructure and the facilities being provided to students as part of the model-school development initiative.
Classroom teaching will also remain an important part of the assessment. The officers will observe the teaching environment and review the academic arrangements in place for students.
The wider objective is to assess whether the model schools are creating a more organised and supportive environment for learning.
Coaching Facilities for Competitive Exams
The inspection will also cover the coaching and other academic arrangements being provided in model schools for students preparing for competitive examinations.
Officials will collect information on the programmes being run to support students in their preparation and assess the academic facilities available for such needs.
This aspect is significant because the model schools are also being developed to provide students with stronger academic support and opportunities to prepare for competitive examinations without having to depend entirely on outside facilities.
Parent-Teacher Meetings to Track Student Progress
A parent-teacher meeting has been scheduled at every model school alongside the inspection.
The meetings will provide parents and teachers an opportunity to discuss children’s studies, learning progress and the academic activities being conducted by the schools.
The Education Department will also pay attention to the quality of communication between parents and teachers and the extent to which parents participate in school-related activities.
Greater parent participation can help schools understand students’ learning needs more closely while allowing parents to remain informed about their children’s academic development.
Photos and Videos to Highlight School Changes
As part of the inspection exercise, photographs and videos will also be prepared to document the changes taking place in the model schools.
The visual material will focus on improvements in the schools and the development of a better academic environment for students.
These photographs and videos will subsequently be shared across different social media platforms. The move is aimed at making the public more aware of the changes taking place in the 700 model schools and highlighting the improvements achieved through the initiative.
A Wider Focus on School-Level Monitoring
The statewide inspection brings together several aspects of school monitoring — from infrastructure and classroom teaching to student facilities, competitive-examination support and parent participation.
With one nodal officer assigned to each model school, the Education Department is seeking closer monitoring of these institutions. Earlier departmental directions also indicated that officials would review infrastructure, academic arrangements and coaching facilities during the September 30 inspection.
The inspection and parent-teacher meetings are therefore expected to provide feedback not only on the physical changes in the schools but also on their academic functioning and engagement with families.
For Bihar’s education system, the exercise offers a mechanism to assess whether the transformation of 700 schools into model institutions is being reflected in everyday classroom practices, student facilities and the overall learning environment.
