New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the appointment of Manu Maharaj (IPS:2005:BH) and Kori Sanjay Kumar Gurudin (IPS:2005:KL) as Inspector Generals (IG) in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Both officers are currently serving as Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) in the same force.
According to the official order issued by the MHA on Tuesday, the appointments will take effect from the date they assume charge of their new roles.
Following their assumption of charge, their deputation tenures will be fixed as per the provisions outlined in para 5.1 (ii) of the IPS Tenure Policy.
These elevations come shortly after both officers were empanelled on May 10, 2025, for holding IG-level posts in the Government of India, along with 18 other IPS officers from the 2005 batch.
The promotions reflect the Government’s continued focus on strengthening leadership in central armed police forces, especially in strategically important forces like ITBP, which guards India’s border with China in the Himalayas.
