Patna: Bihar is set to expand educational opportunities for minority students with the launch of four new Minority Residential Schools in Jamui, Nalanda, Kaimur and Muzaffarpur. Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Jama Khan announced that classes in the newly completed campuses will begin on August 17.

The minister said the state aims to establish one Minority Residential School in every district. So far, projects have been approved in 24 districts, while schools in Darbhanga and Kishanganj are already operational.

288 Teachers to Be Recruited

To strengthen academic standards, the government has sent a requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for the recruitment of 288 teachers through TRE-4.

The department also has 481 sanctioned teaching and non-teaching posts for 13 operational schools. Requisitions have also been sent for the recruitment of one District Welfare Officer and 459 Block Minority Welfare Officers.

Haj, Entrepreneurship and Coaching Initiatives

The minister said 2,526 Haj pilgrims travelled during FY 2025-26, while 3,637 applications have already been received for FY 2026-27.

Under the Chief Minister Entrepreneur Scheme, 3,741 beneficiaries have received loans worth ₹270 crore, including ₹100 crore disbursed to 1,247 beneficiaries in FY 2025-26.

The State Coaching Scheme also reported encouraging results this year, with:

  • 20 students qualifying JEE
  • 38 students clearing NEET
  • 90% of residential school students passing Matric and Intermediate in First Division
  • Five students from the Kishanganj Minority Residential School becoming district toppers

Why It Matters

The initiatives are expected to enhance learning outcomes, strengthen competitive exam preparation and improve employment opportunities for young people across the state.
