Patna: The Bihar Government on Thursday carried out a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring and reassigning several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across key departments, including Rural Works, Information Technology, Food and Consumer Protection, Sports, Higher Education, Agriculture and Education.
The General Administration Department (GAD) issued the notification late on Thursday evening.
The reshuffle entrusts several officers with additional responsibilities, ensuring continuity in governance while filling important administrative positions.
Abhay Kumar Singh Moves to Rural Works Department
Abhay Kumar Singh (IAS:2004:BH) has been transferred from the Information Technology Department and appointed Secretary, Rural Works Department.
He will, however, continue to hold the additional charge of the Information Technology Department until further orders, ensuring continuity in the state’s ongoing digital governance initiatives.
Divesh Sehra Gets Food and Consumer Protection
Divesh Sehra (IAS:2005:BH), who was serving as Secretary in the Rural Works Department, has been posted as Secretary, Food and Consumer Protection Department.
In addition to his new assignment, he has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Inquiry Commissioner in the General Administration Department until further orders.
Deepak Anand Shifted to Sports Department
Deepak Anand (IAS:2007:BH), previously serving as Secretary, Food and Consumer Protection Department, has been transferred and appointed Secretary, Sports Department.
The appointment comes as Bihar continues to strengthen its sports administration and infrastructure.
Rajiv Raushan Given Additional Education and Sports Charge
Rajiv Raushan (IAS:2010:BH), currently Secretary, Higher Education Department, has been assigned the additional charge of the Education and Sports Departments.
He will hold these responsibilities until the completion of the Bankipur Assembly by-election.
Rajiv Raushan will also continue in his existing role as Secretary (Resources), Finance Department.
Rachna Patil to Oversee Agriculture Department
Rachna Patil (IAS:2010:BH), presently serving as Secretary (Expenditure), Finance Department, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Agriculture Department until further orders.
Additional Responsibilities for 2013-Batch Officers
The government has also assigned additional responsibilities to two 2013-batch IAS officers.
Dharmendra Kumar (IAS:2013:BH) has been given additional charge as Special Secretary, Education Department.
Manesh Kumar (IAS:2013:BH), currently Director, Mines Department, will additionally oversee the Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BSEIDC).
Posting for Young IAS Officer
Among the younger officers, Shweta Bharti (IAS:2022:BH) has been appointed as:
Deputy Development Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, Sitamarhi
The posting marks another important field assignment for the young officer.
Key Administrative Realignment
The latest reshuffle reflects the Bihar Government’s effort to strengthen administrative coordination across important departments such as rural development, education, agriculture, finance, food distribution and sports.
By assigning additional responsibilities to several senior officers, the government has sought to ensure continuity in governance while addressing administrative requirements in multiple departments.
