Patna: The Bihar government has approved its participation in the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) Mission, a major initiative aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, increasing revenue generation, and creating new employment opportunities in urban areas across the state.
The decision is expected to pave the way for financially sustainable urban development projects in collaboration with the Government of India and local urban bodies.
₹2,900 Crore Allocated for Bihar Under UCF Mission
Under the Urban Challenge Fund Mission, Bihar has been allocated ₹2,900 crore as part of a nationwide central assistance provision of ₹1 lakh crore by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
The funding will be directed towards developing economically viable and revenue-generating urban projects that can strengthen the financial capacity of municipal bodies.
Focus on Revenue-Generating and Sustainable Urban Projects

To support urban local bodies in raising funds, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has been designated as the key financing institution.
