Patna: The Bihar Road Construction Department is set to widen and strengthen the Lakhanpur-Bhomasi road in Munger district at an estimated cost of ₹58.01 crore. The 15.60-km project is expected to improve connectivity between Munger and the Haveli Kharagpur area and provide a smoother alternative route for local traffic.
The road will also provide a direct link between SH-22 and NH-33, helping reduce traffic pressure in densely populated areas located along major roads.
₹58.01 Crore Project to Widen 15.60-Km Road
The Road Construction Department has given approval for the widening and strengthening of the road from Lakhanpur Market to Bhomasi Bridge, along the Haveli Kharagpur route.
The road passes through several important rural settlements, including:
- Saroun
- Makwa
- Navtoliya
- Muzaffarganj
Under the project, the existing road width will be increased from 3.75 metres to 5.50 metres.
The department has accelerated the implementation process, with agency selection, mobilisation and handover-related activities reportedly in the final stages.

Road to Improve Munger-Haveli Kharagpur Connectivity
The upgraded road is expected to make travel from Munger to Haveli Kharagpur and adjoining areas easier and more efficient.

It is also expected to function as a bypass route for Munger city, helping divert traffic away from congested areas and reducing pressure on major roads passing through densely populated settlements.

The project is being positioned as an important infrastructure initiative for Munger district, with the potential to strengthen rural connectivity and reduce the gap between urban and rural areas.
