Patna: Bihar has completed construction of 38 motor vehicle training centres across 37 districts, excluding Aurangabad. The Transport Department has approved 66 centres under the Motor Vehicle Driving Training Institute Promotion Scheme, with the completed facilities expected to start certified driving training soon.
Patna, Muzaffarpur Get Four Centres Each
Patna and Muzaffarpur have been given a target of four centres each, while Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Vaishali, Gaya, Purnia and Madhubani have received approval for three centres each. Other districts are also seeing expansion based on local requirements.

Focus on Road Safety
The new centres will provide classroom and practical driving training, including track-based practice and awareness of traffic and safety rules. Trained instructors and prescribed courses are expected to help improve driving skills and promote safer road behaviour.
Up to ₹20 Lakh Government Grant
The state government is encouraging private institutions and individuals to establish training centres by offering grants of up to ₹20 lakh, or 50% of the eligible establishment cost. Support covers building and track construction, equipment, vehicles and the launch of the centre.
Building a Structured Training Network
With 38 centres completed out of 66 approved, Bihar is expanding formal driving training infrastructure across the state. The initiative aims to make driver education more organised while strengthening road safety and traffic discipline.
