Bihar Govt Directs SDOs to Complete Online Upload of Offline Ration Card Applications by August 15 

The Food and Consumer Protection Department has instructed all Sub-Divisional Officers to verify and digitise pending offline ration card applications by August 15, 2026, to speed up processing and improve service delivery.

Patna: The Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Department has directed all Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) across the state to convert pending offline ration card applications into the online system at the earliest. The move aims to streamline the ration card issuance process and ensure timely disposal of applications.

The directive was issued during a video conference chaired by Food and Consumer Protection Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh on August 5.

Offline Applications to Be Verified Before Online Entry

During the meeting, officials were instructed to ensure that every offline ration card application is properly verified and authenticated before being uploaded to the online portal.

The department emphasized that only verified applications should be entered into the digital system to maintain accuracy and transparency in the ration card database.

Deadline Set for August 15, 2026

The department has instructed all districts to complete the digitisation process by August 15, 2026.

Special Secretary Upendra Kumar directed officials to continue making login attempts whenever technical issues arise and advised them to coordinate with the IT team to resolve any portal-related problems promptly.

The department stressed that all pending applications should be verified and uploaded within the stipulated timeline.

Several Sub-Divisions Recognised for Good Performance

The review meeting highlighted the progress made by several sub-divisions in uploading offline applications.

The following sub-divisions were appreciated for their better performance:

  • Saharsa Sadar
  • Araria
  • Biraul
  • Darbhanga Sadar
  • Nawada Sadar
  • Gaya Sadar

Officials from these areas were commended for their efficient online data entry work.

Slow-Performing Sub-Divisions Asked to Improve

The department also reviewed the progress of other sub-divisions where online entry work has been comparatively slow.

Officials from the following areas were instructed to accelerate the digitisation process:

  • Munger
  • Danapur
  • Purnia Sadar

They were issued specific directions to improve the pace of online application entry and meet the prescribed deadline.

IT Support to Resolve Login Issues

During the meeting, the department’s IT Manager explained the solutions available for login-related technical issues affecting the online portal.

Officials were advised to remain in continuous coordination with the IT support team to ensure that technical problems do not delay the digitisation of ration card applications.

Government Aims to Speed Up Ration Card Processing

The initiative is part of the Bihar government’s efforts to modernise public service delivery and improve the efficiency of the Public Distribution System (PDS).

By converting offline applications into the online platform, the department aims to:

  • Speed up ration card processing.
  • Improve transparency.
  • Reduce pending applications.
  • Strengthen digital record management across the state.

The Food and Consumer Protection Department has asked all Sub-Divisional Officers to ensure timely completion of the task so that eligible beneficiaries can receive ration card services without unnecessary delays.
