Patna: Bihar Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra has directed officials to fast-track the investigation of public grievances and ensure swift action against guilty officers. At the same time, the state government has approved ₹262.37 crore as the second installment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas (Urban) Yojana 2.0.
The minister emphasized a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption, irregularities, and negligence in the department.
Fast-Track Investigation of Public Grievances
Minister Nitish Mishra has instructed the Urban Development Department to adopt a fast-track system for handling complaints and allegations.
He stated that:
- Investigations must be completed quickly and as per rules
- Action should be taken immediately against guilty officials
- No undue delay will be tolerated in grievance disposal
The minister reviewed pending complaints, vigilance cases, and allegations across various levels of the department during a detailed meeting held on Monday.

Zero Tolerance Policy for Corruption and Irregularities
The minister reiterated that the department will strictly follow a zero-tolerance policy against:
- Corruption
- Rule violations
- Administrative negligence
He directed officials to ensure that investigations are conducted in a fair, fact-based, and transparent manner.
At the same time, he stressed that false or baseless complaints must also be handled carefully to protect the morale of honest and hardworking officers.
Priority Disposal of Legislators’ Complaints
Special emphasis was placed on complaints received from members of:
- Lok Sabha
- Rajya Sabha
- Bihar Legislative Assembly
- Bihar Legislative Council
The minister directed that all such grievances must be resolved on priority and without unnecessary delay.
He also instructed the department to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure systematic and effective complaint disposal.
₹262.37 Crore Released Under PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0
The minister announced that ₹262.37 crore has been approved as the second installment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas (Urban) Yojana 2.0.
This amount will be used for 200 beneficiary-led construction projects across the state.
The funding will help accelerate housing construction for eligible urban beneficiaries.
Focus on Housing for Urban Poor
The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe and dignified housing for all eligible urban families under the scheme.
Key features of the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 include:
- Minimum two rooms per house
- Kitchen facility
- Separate toilet and bathroom
- Improved living standards for beneficiaries
The scheme was launched on 1 September 2024 and aims to provide permanent housing to urban poor families.
