Patna: Bihar has received an interim allocation of ₹6,715 crore under the VB-G Ramji scheme for rural employment and livelihood generation. The initiative is aimed at strengthening rural development and expanding job opportunities across villages, with nationwide implementation scheduled from 1 July.
The scheme is expected to accelerate rural infrastructure work and ensure completion of pending development projects, including unfinished works under MGNREGA.
Major Boost for Rural Employment in Bihar
Under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural (VB-G Ramji), Bihar has been allocated a significant interim budget of ₹6,715 crore.
The scheme focuses on:
- Expanding rural employment opportunities
- Strengthening livelihood security in villages
- Completing pending rural development works
- Improving income generation in rural areas
This allocation is expected to provide a strong push to Bihar’s rural economy.
₹1,890 Crore Allocated for Unskilled Wage Employment
A special provision of around ₹1,890 crore has been made specifically for unskilled wage employment in rural areas.
This fund will directly benefit rural workers by:
- Increasing job availability in villages
- Ensuring timely wage payments
- Supporting daily wage earners
- Boosting household income stability
The initiative aims to strengthen the rural labour workforce and reduce unemployment pressure.
High-Level Meeting on Scheme Implementation
A detailed review meeting on the implementation of the scheme was held between:
- Bihar Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar
- Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
The discussions were conducted via video conferencing, focusing on effective rollout and coordination between the Centre and the State.
Nationwide Rollout from 1 July
According to government officials, the VB-G Ramji rural employment scheme will be implemented across the country starting 1 July.
Preparations in Bihar are currently in the final stages to ensure smooth execution of the program from day one.
Training and Implementation Framework Ready
To ensure effective implementation:
- State-level operational guidelines are being prepared
- Master trainers have already been appointed
- District-level training programs will be conducted
These measures aim to ensure proper execution of the scheme at the grassroots level.
Focus on Completing Pending Rural Works
The scheme will also incorporate unfinished works under rural development programs, including MGNREGA-related projects.
This is expected to:
- Speed up completion of infrastructure projects
- Improve rural connectivity and facilities
- Generate additional employment opportunities
- Strengthen overall village development
