48-Hour Police Drive Puts 1,142 Bihar Accused Behind Bars

Bihar Police arrested 1,142 wanted accused and recovered illegal firearms, liquor, drugs and cash during a two-day statewide special campaign.

Patna: The Bihar Police arrested 1,142 wanted accused during a special two-day statewide campaign conducted on August 30 and 31, as authorities stepped up efforts to curb crime and strengthen enforcement.

The campaign followed directions from the Law and Order Division of the Bihar Police Headquarters, with district police teams carrying out arrests, intensive checking and enforcement operations under the supervision of senior police officials.

Illegal Arms Recovered Across 12 Districts

During the operation, police recovered 13 illegal firearms and 116 cartridges from around a dozen districts.

The recoveries were reported from Patna, Nalanda, Rohtas, Begusarai, Khagaria, Vaishali, Motihari, Siwan, Madhubani, Saharsa, Madhepura and Araria.

District Superintendents of Police and other senior officers led the campaign in their respective areas.

Over 11,000 Litres of Illegal Liquor Seized

The campaign also focused on the illegal liquor trade. Police seized more than 11,000 litres of illicit liquor during the two days.

This included:

  • 8,408 litres of country-made liquor
  • 2,739 litres of foreign liquor

The seizure formed part of the wider enforcement drive against activities linked to crime and substance abuse.

Drugs and Cash Also Recovered

Police teams also recovered a range of narcotic substances and cash during the campaign.

The seizures included 359 kg of ganja, 142 grams of smack, 55 grams of brown sugar and 326 grams of heroin. Police also recovered ₹1,49,466 in cash.

In addition, 27 drug users were arrested during the operation.

More Than 54,000 Vehicles Checked

The special campaign extended beyond arrests and seizures, with police conducting extensive vehicle checks across Bihar.

A total of 54,861 vehicles were checked during the two-day drive. Police collected ₹81.14 lakh in fines from 5,683 vehicles for violations.

Another 95 vehicles were seized in connection with various criminal cases.

Enforcement Drive Across Bihar

The campaign highlights Bihar Police’s coordinated efforts to control crime and curb illegal arms, drugs and liquor across districts.

Regular enforcement and monitoring will remain important to maintain public safety and strengthen law and order.
