Patna: The Bihar government has directed concerned departments and officials to take prompt action on issues affecting the smooth operation of flights at Bihta Airport. The directions were issued during a meeting held on September 16 to review operational difficulties associated with the airport and the Air Force Station, Bihta.
The meeting was chaired by Home Department Principal Secretary Pankaj Kumar through video conferencing. Officials discussed several issues requiring coordination between the administration, Air Force authorities and other concerned agencies.
The focus was on resolving pending matters that could affect the smooth functioning of aviation infrastructure at Bihta and ensuring that necessary action is taken without delay.
Construction Near Bihta Airport Under Review
One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was the identification of unauthorised constructions within the approach funnel of the Bihta Airport runway.
The approach funnel is an important area around a runway that needs to remain free from obstacles that could interfere with aircraft operations. During the meeting, the Air Force authorities raised the issue of identifying unauthorised structures in this area for appropriate administrative action.
The review also covered construction activities within a 100-metre radius from the top of the outer wall of the Air Force Station, Bihta.
The matter was discussed as part of the broader effort to address issues around the airport and ensure that activities in the surrounding areas are examined in coordination with the concerned authorities.

Drainage Encroachments Raise Concern
Another issue raised during the meeting related to monsoon drains in the areas surrounding the Air Force Station.
According to the issues presented by the Air Force Station, local villagers have allegedly encroached upon or obstructed these drainage channels. Such encroachments and blockages were identified as matters requiring resolution.
The administration was directed to take necessary action to address the issue and ensure coordination among the agencies involved.
Resolving drainage-related problems is also important for maintaining the surrounding infrastructure, particularly during the monsoon period, when blocked or encroached drainage channels can create additional difficulties.
Defence Land and Mutation Matters
The meeting also examined administrative issues concerning land adjoining the Air Force Station, Bihta.
These included the allocation of land located next to the Air Force Station and administrative assistance in the mutation of defence land records.
The issues require coordination between the concerned departments and local administration. The Principal Secretary directed officials to work together to ensure that pending matters are processed at the earliest.
The focus on land-related issues is part of the wider administrative exercise to remove hurdles connected with the airport and Air Force infrastructure.
Dedicated 33 KV Feeder Line Discussed
The newly constructed 33 KV feeder line was another important issue considered during the meeting.
The Air Force Station raised the matter of dedicating the newly constructed feeder line for its use. Officials discussed the issue as part of the infrastructure requirements associated with the station.
The Principal Secretary instructed the concerned departments and officials to take the required action on the matter and ensure coordination between the agencies involved.
The issue was considered alongside other infrastructure and administrative matters affecting the functioning of the Air Force Station and the airport.
Coordination for Faster Resolution
During the meeting, Principal Secretary Pankaj Kumar directed all concerned departments and officials to ensure necessary action on each of the issues raised.

The meeting was attended by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order and Weaker Sections Division) K. Suhita Anupam, Special Secretary Kshatranil Singh and other concerned officials.
