Patna: Bihar is preparing for a new phase of urban development with plans to bring expert technical support into the design of its upcoming cities and greenfield satellite townships. The state’s Urban Development and Housing Department has signed an agreement with the CEPT Advisory Foundation, Ahmedabad, to establish a Technical Support Unit (TSU).
The unit will provide specialised assistance for the planned development of new urban areas, covering land use, infrastructure, connectivity and long-term planning. The initiative is aimed at creating modern townships that can respond to future population needs while keeping sustainability and citizen requirements at the centre.
CEPT to Provide Urban Planning Expertise
The agreement brings the expertise of CEPT into Bihar’s urban development planning. The Technical Support Unit will work with the department on various aspects of township planning and development.
Its scope will include:
