New Delhi: The Delhi government launched a series of public-service and welfare initiatives on Thursday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, including an organ donation platform, a mega blood donation camp and the Namo Shramik Kendra for workers.
The programmes form part of the Delhi government’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which began on September 17 and will continue until October 17. The campaign includes welfare outreach, health initiatives, worker registration and other public-service activities.
Organ Donation Platform, Blood Donation Drive Launched
The Delhi government officially launched its State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) platform, aimed at promoting organ and tissue donation and coordinating related activities in the capital.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta registered herself as the platform’s first organ donor, according to reports. The platform had been announced as part of the month-long campaign and is intended to provide a state-level mechanism for organ donation and transplantation-related coordination.
A mega blood donation camp was also organised in Delhi. The government had set a target of collecting 2,500 units of blood on the opening day of the campaign.
Namo Shramik Kendra Launched for Workers
The government also launched the Namo Shramik Kendra to connect workers and labourers with government welfare schemes and related services.
The initiative is intended to assist workers with access to welfare programmes, including registration and other service-related requirements.
108-Kundiya Hawan Held at Khatu Shyam Temple
A 108-kundiya hawan was held at the Khatu Shyam Temple on GT Karnal Road as part of the birthday programmes.
Gupta said the ceremony was held with prayers for the Prime Minister’s long life, good health and continued service to the country.
Other activities announced for September 17 included the release of a song created by schoolchildren and an evening lamp-lighting programme in Delhi.
Month-Long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan
The Delhi government had earlier announced that the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan would run from September 17 to October 17.
The campaign includes:
- Blood donation drives
- Health check-ups for senior citizens
- Worker registration and welfare outreach
- Cleanliness and plantation activities
- Organ donation awareness
- Yamuna cleaning and rejuvenation initiatives
The government had also announced that projects worth around ₹13,820 crore would be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid during the campaign.
