BPCL Awards Major Water Treatment and ZLD Project to WABAG for Bina Refinery Expansion

New Delhi: VA TECH WABAG (‘WABAG’), a leading pure-play Water Technology Multinational Group, has further strengthened its leadership in the Industrial Water Treatment segment by securing a ‘Large’ order from state-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The order has been awarded for the development of advanced technology water treatment facilities for BPCL’s Bina Petrochemical and Refinery Expansion Project located in Bina, Madhya Pradesh.

Comprehensive Water Treatment Infrastructure for Bina Refinery

The scope of the order includes a complete Water Block Package comprising a Raw Water Treatment Plant (RWTP), a Reverse Osmosis-based Demineralization Plant (RODMP), and a Zero Liquid Discharge Plant (ZLDP). These facilities are designed to meet the stringent water quality and sustainability requirements of large-scale refinery and petrochemical operations.

Under the contract, WABAG will execute the project on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) basis, covering design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of the water treatment systems. The project is scheduled to be completed within a period of 22 months.

Reinforcing WABAG’s Expertise in Complex Water Projects

Commenting on the development, Mr. S. Natrajan, Head – Sales & Marketing, India Cluster, said that the company is delighted to receive this significant industrial water treatment order, including a ZLD solution, from BPCL. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed by BPCL in WABAG’s technological capabilities and execution expertise. He added that the order further reinforces WABAG’s leadership in the Oil & Gas sector and highlights its proven track record in delivering complex, technology-intensive water projects. The company, he said, remains fully committed to executing the project to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and operational performance.
