Goalpara, Assam: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has successfully commissioned its Matia LPG Bottling Plant in Goalpara, Assam, marking a significant milestone as the company’s first LPG bottling plant in Assam and the North-East India region.
The commissioning marks the beginning of commercial operations at the facility, which has now been integrated into BPCL’s LPG supply chain. The plant is expected to strengthen LPG availability and distribution infrastructure across Assam and the wider North-East.

The Matia facility represents BPCL’s expansion of its LPG infrastructure in the North-East region.
The new plant is expected to support the region’s growing LPG demand by enabling more reliable and efficient supply. It will also help improve the movement of LPG from the bottling facility to consumers across Assam.

First Packed LPG Truck Flagged Off
A key highlight of the commissioning ceremony was the flag-off of the first packed LPG truck from the Matia plant.
The event marked the formal beginning of commercial operations and the facility’s integration into BPCL’s existing LPG supply chain.
The plant will help streamline LPG distribution and support faster turnaround of supplies to different parts of Assam.
Plant to Serve Nearly Half a Million Consumers
BPCL said the Matia LPG Bottling Plant will serve nearly half a million LPG consumers in Assam.
The facility is expected to strengthen LPG availability across the state and contribute to improved supply infrastructure in the North-East.
With growing LPG demand in the region, the plant will support:
