Patna: Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) Administrator Atul Verma conducted a surprise inspection of city and long-distance buses operating in Patna on Saturday, directly interacting with passengers to assess their experience.
The inspection covered passenger facilities, ticketing arrangements and cleanliness. Verma boarded buses at the Bihar Museum bus stop and later visited the Multi-Modal Hub (ISBT) to review services on the ground.
Passengers Share Feedback
During the inspection, Verma spoke directly with passengers and sought their feedback on BSRTC services.
Most passengers appeared satisfied and said buses were now available more regularly and that their journeys had become more convenient and comfortable.
The administrator used the interaction to understand the passenger experience beyond routine operational checks and identify areas requiring further attention.

Ticketing System Checked
Ticketing was one of the key areas reviewed during the inspection. Officials found that all passengers travelling on the buses checked had valid tickets.
Verma termed the arrangement satisfactory and directed conductors to ensure that no passenger travels without a valid ticket.
He also stressed the continued implementation of the e-ticketing system, making ticket compliance an important part of daily bus operations.
Clean Buses and Uniformed Staff
Following the inspection, Verma issued instructions to bus drivers, conductors and depot management on service standards.
He directed officials to ensure that buses remain clean and that no bus in poor condition is sent onto the route.
Drivers and conductors were also instructed to report for duty in their prescribed uniforms. The administrator further emphasised courteous and respectful behaviour towards passengers.
The directions are aimed at improving both the physical condition of buses and the overall passenger experience.
Inspection Covers Key Transport Points
The inspection began at the Bihar Museum bus stop, a key point for city bus operations. Verma then proceeded to the Multi-Modal Hub (ISBT), where he continued checking buses and interacting with passengers.
The presence of senior officials at operational points allowed the BSRTC administration to directly observe ticketing, cleanliness and passenger interactions.
The visit also highlighted the importance of regular monitoring as the corporation works to improve public transport services in Patna.
Focus on Everyday Passenger Experience
The inspection focused on issues that directly affect daily commuters—availability of buses, ticketing, cleanliness and staff conduct.
While passengers largely expressed satisfaction with the current service, the instructions issued during the inspection indicate that BSRTC intends to maintain these standards consistently.
Assistant Regional Managers Arvind Kumar and Mamta Kumari, along with Multi-Modal Hub in-charge Abhishek Kumar, were also present during the inspection.
The surprise check reflects BSRTC’s focus on monitoring services directly on routes and using passenger feedback to improve public transport operations in the capital.
