Bengaluru: Canara Bank has officially announced the appointment of Mr. Brajesh Kumar Singh as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO). The appointment marks an important leadership transition at one of India’s prominent public sector banks, signaling a new phase of strategic growth and organizational transformation.

The bank has expressed strong confidence in his leadership abilities, expecting continued progress in digital innovation, operational efficiency, and customer-centric banking services under his guidance.

Nearly Three Decades of Banking Experience

Mr. Brajesh Kumar Singh brings close to 30 years of extensive experience in the banking sector. His career spans multiple key areas of banking operations, including corporate credit, retail assets, human resource management, and zonal leadership roles.

Before taking charge at Canara Bank, he served as Chief General Manager (HR) at Bank of Baroda. In that role, he played a significant part in shaping human resource strategy, strengthening organizational development, and improving workforce efficiency across the institution.

His broad exposure to both operational and strategic functions positions him as a seasoned banker capable of leading large-scale institutional reforms and modernization efforts.

Mr. Singh holds an academic background that combines both technical and financial expertise. He earned a degree in Agriculture from the Allahabad Agriculture Institute and later completed an MBA in Finance.

This combination of academic disciplines supports his practical understanding of rural and urban banking needs, along with strong financial management capabilities—key strengths for leading a diversified banking institution.

Under the new leadership, Canara Bank is expected to further accelerate its focus on digital transformation, enhanced customer experience, and operational excellence.
