New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and its subordinate offices across the country will participate in Special Campaign 6.0 for Swachhata and disposal of pending matters from October 2 to 31, 2026.
The campaign, led by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), will focus on improving cleanliness, record management and efficiency across Income Tax Department offices.
CBDT Identifies Four Key Focus Areas
Under Special Campaign 6.0, the CBDT will concentrate on four areas:
- E-waste disposal
- Record management
- Space optimisation and office beautification
- Accelerated grievance redressal

The campaign is intended to build on the department’s earlier efforts to improve office efficiency and citizen services.
52,290 Public Grievances Resolved Since December 2025
As part of its efforts to strengthen grievance redressal, the CBDT said it resolved 52,290 public grievances and disposed of more than 6,776 grievance appeals between December 2025 and August 2026.
The department said these measures demonstrate its focus on responsive governance and citizen-centric service delivery.
Special Campaign 5.0 Cleared 2.30 Lakh Physical Files
The CBDT said the previous Special Campaign 5.0 provided a foundation for the upcoming initiative.
During the earlier campaign, the Income Tax Department:
- Conducted cleanliness drives at 1,521 sites
- Disposed of 2.30 lakh physical files
- Disposed of more than 10,000 e-files
- Freed 1.67 lakh square feet of office space
- Generated ₹32 lakh through scrap disposal
- Resolved more than 21,251 public grievances
The CBDT said Special Campaign 6.0 will carry forward these efforts while placing additional emphasis on e-waste management, records and grievance resolution.
Campaign to Focus on Cleanliness and Service Delivery
The CBDT said the initiative aligns with government guidelines to institutionalise Swachhata, improve workplace efficiency and strengthen citizen services.
Special Campaign 6.0 will run across CBDT and its subordinate offices from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
