Jaipur: The Income Tax Department is holding a two-day conference of Principal Chief Commissioners and Principal Directors General in Jaipur to deliberate on the department’s present challenges and future requirements.
The high-level conference was inaugurated on Monday by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal and brought together senior officials from across the country.
The conference is focused on reviewing various administrative and functional aspects of the department and identifying measures that can make its functioning more effective, efficient and responsive.
According to an official statement, the primary objective of the conference is to deliberate on the department’s current and emerging issues and formulate action plans for improving its functioning.
E-HRMS, Taxpayer Services and Service Matters Discussed
On the first day, senior officers discussed a wide range of issues related to the functioning of the Income Tax Department.
The deliberations covered the e-Human Resource Management System (e-HRMS), service matters, reservation policy, taxpayer services, Systems Directorate, capacity building, infrastructure and expenditure budget, among other subjects.
The discussions are aimed at addressing operational and administrative requirements while ensuring that the department remains prepared for evolving challenges.
Particular emphasis was placed on areas that can improve internal human resource management as well as the delivery of services to taxpayers.

Focus on Making Income Tax Department More Effective

Several senior members of the CBDT attended the conference along with Rajasthan’s senior Income Tax officials.
Those present included CBDT Members Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Sanjay Bahadur, Prasenjit Singh, G Aparna Rao, Pallavi Agarwal and Sunil Kumar Singh.
Sumeet Kumar, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Rajasthan, also attended the conference.
The participation of senior CBDT members and Principal Chief Commissioners underlines the importance of the conference as a platform for discussing policy, administration and operational issues affecting the Income Tax Department.
Principal Chief Commissioners and Principal Directors General Participate
Besides CBDT members and Rajasthan’s Principal Chief Commissioner, the conference is being attended by Principal Chief Commissioners, Principal Directors General, Commissioners of Income Tax (Administration) and other senior officers from across the country.
The participation of senior officials from different levels of the department allows issues relating to policy implementation, administration and field-level functioning to be discussed collectively.
The conference is also expected to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences among senior officials working in different regions and functional areas.

The Income Tax Department is increasingly focusing on technology-driven administration, improved taxpayer services, human resource management and institutional capacity.
