New Delhi: The Central government has appointed Rabindra Kumar Agarwal (IAS: 1997: KL), Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), as Chairman of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
The appointment has been made on a part-time basis, with Agarwal holding the position in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
R K Agarwal Appointed Chairman of CWC
According to an Office Order dated September 2, 2026, issued by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Agarwal has been appointed Chairman of CWC with effect from the date he assumes charge.
His tenure will continue until he ceases to be the Government Nominee Director on the Board of CWC, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Agarwal is a 1997-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre and has been serving as CMD of the Food Corporation of India since January 2026.
His appointment as CWC Chairman adds another key responsibility to his existing role in the food and public distribution sector.
The part-time nature of the appointment allows him to continue his existing responsibilities while serving as Chairman of CWC.
CWC Chairman Post Was Lying Vacant
The position of Chairman, CWC had remained vacant following the movement of Ashutosh Agnihotri (IAS: 1999: AM) to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change as Additional Secretary.
Agarwal has now been appointed to the position, filling the leadership vacancy at the Navratna CPSE.
