New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday announced a fresh round of transfers and postings affecting seven senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers in the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CIT) and Principal Director of Income Tax (Pr. DIT) grades. The changes come into effect immediately, reflecting CBDT’s ongoing administrative restructuring.
In addition, six officers have been entrusted with additional charges, aimed at enhancing functional efficiency across multiple regions.
Key Transfers in Pr. CIT and Pr. DIT Grades
The list of newly assigned roles includes several strategic positions across metros and regional offices:
- Vatsalya Saxena, previously Pr. CIT (OSD), Mumbai, is now Pr. CIT-1, Kochi.
- Krishan Kumar, earlier Pr. ADG (Vigilance HQ-5), Delhi, has been posted as Pr. DIT (Investigation)-2, Delhi.
- S. Murali Mohan, Pr. CIT (OSD), Mumbai, has been appointed as Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Hyderabad.
- T Diwakar Prasad, who was serving as Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Coimbatore, has now been transferred to Pr. CIT-1, Coimbatore.
- Ritesh Parmar, earlier Pr. CIT (OSD), Ahmedabad, has been posted as Pr. ADG, NADT-RC, Ahmedabad.
- Sathyamoorthy N, previously Pr. CIT-1, Coimbatore, has now taken over as Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Coimbatore.
- Kumar Ajeet, who was Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Burdwan, has been shifted to Pr. CIT (AU)-3, Kolkata.

Additional Charges Assigned for Operational Continuity
Six officers have also been given additional charge responsibilities to ensure administrative continuity and support in key regions:
- Vatsalya Saxena will also hold charge of Pr. CIT, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala region.
- Jagdish P Jangid will oversee Pr. CIT (AU)-1, Kolhapur, Pune region.
- Abhijit A. Patankar is assigned additional charge of Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Pune.
- Kumar Ajeet will continue to oversee Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Burdwan, West Bengal & Sikkim region.
- V Vivekanandan is now also in charge of Pr. CIT (C), Nagpur.
- Rakesh Garg has been assigned the role of Pr. ADG (Vigilance), HQ-5, Delhi, replacing Krishan Kumar.
Strategic Shuffle to Enhance Departmental Efficiency
The transfer order is seen as part of a larger administrative recalibration undertaken by the CBDT to strengthen its investigative and tax administration arms. Officials familiar with the matter said the reshuffling is aligned with the department’s performance goals, regional workload adjustments, and the upcoming assessment cycles.
Such periodic reassignments are also viewed as opportunities to bring in fresh leadership, regional balance, and functional specialization in key tax enforcement and vigilance roles.
