Dhamtari: In a major move to empower women and boost rural development, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated 51 Mahatari Sadans virtually from Kareli Badi village in the Kurud Assembly constituency. The ceremony also included the launch of key digital initiatives and the announcement of multiple development projects totaling over ₹83 crore.
State-Level Inauguration Ceremony at Kareli Badi
The Chief Minister addressed a state-level event held in Kareli Badi, where he remotely inaugurated 51 newly constructed Mahatari Sadans across different districts using a digital platform. The event also marked the official release of:
- Gram Sampada App – to track and manage rural resources
- Citizen Information Portal – providing comprehensive data on MNREGA
- “Lakhpati Didi / Mahatari Sadan” booklet
- “Maa Abhiyan” awareness booklet
Women Empowerment at the Core
Speaking at the event, CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the government’s priority to empower women through self-reliance. Mahatari Sadans will now act as community centers for rural women to engage in:
- Tailoring and embroidery
- Vegetable cultivation
- Vocational and self-employment training
Over 2 lakh women across the state participated in the event virtually. The CM also interacted with women SHG members from Jashpur, Bemetara, Mungeli, and Durg, extending greetings and encouragement during the festive Navratri season.
Digital Tools for Transparent Governance
The CM launched two significant e-governance tools:
- Gram Sampada App: To manage village resources efficiently
- Citizen Information Portal: Offers public access to consolidated MNREGA data, promoting transparency
These platforms are expected to enhance accountability and citizen engagement with local development initiatives.
Development Projects Worth ₹83+ Crore Announced
The Chief Minister unveiled a series of infrastructure and civic development projects for Dhamtari district, including:
Education and Skill Development
- New Government College in Kareli Badi
- New Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in G. Jamgaon, Kurud
Urban & Rural Infrastructure
- Kareli Badi + Khatti villages granted Nagar Panchayat status
- Kurud Nagar Panchayat upgraded to Municipal Council
- Urban water supply projects in Kurud and Bhakhara – ₹30 crore
- Anicut construction from Bhendri to Baronda – ₹45 crore
- Khatti Anicut renovation – ₹5 crore
Local Area Development Funds
- ₹2 crore for development in Kurud
- ₹1.5 crore for Bhakhara town
- “Gaurav Path” road project announced in Bhendri by Deputy CM Vijay Sharma
Flagship Schemes Highlighted
CM Sai also highlighted key state and central government schemes being implemented, including:
- Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana
- Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana
- Mahatari Vandan Yojana
These schemes aim to provide religious pilgrimage opportunities and financial support for women and elderly citizens in the state.
Vision for a Naxal-Free Chhattisgarh
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to peace and development, CM Vishnu Deo Sai reiterated the goal of making Chhattisgarh Naxal-free by March 2026, in line with the vision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Exhibition and Beneficiary Distribution
Prior to the main event, CM Sai visited exhibitions showcasing development works by various departments. He also distributed material kits and cheques to select beneficiaries.
Principal Secretary Niharika Barik Singh presented a detailed overview of the Mahatari Sadan initiative, explaining its objectives and long-term impact.
