Chhattisgarh CM  Vishnu Deo Sai Approves 543 Development Projects for Surguja’s Tribal Growth and Infrastructure

Chhattisgarh government prioritizes holistic development in Surguja, approving ₹50 crore budget and 543 projects for tribal empowerment, water supply, electrification, and tourism growth.

Surguja: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has reiterated the state government‘s full commitment to the overall development of the Surguja region, strengthening tribal communities, and enhancing the prosperity of the area. He made these remarks during the meeting of the Surguja Tribal Development Authority held in Baikunthpur, Korea district. The meeting focused on the review and approval of various development works in the region.

State Government Prioritizes Development in Surguja and Bastar Regions

In his address, Chief Minister Sai emphasized the state government’s dedication to prioritizing the development of Surguja and Bastar regions. He mentioned that significant efforts were being made to connect underdeveloped and forested areas with the mainstream. “With the support of all, we will take the region to new heights of progress,” he added.

Approval of New Development Schemes Based on Representatives’ Suggestions

The meeting included a detailed review of the progress of development works in Surguja division. Based on the suggestions from local representatives, several new development schemes were approved. The meeting also granted formal approval to 606 works approved in the previous fiscal year.

Financial Provision and Budget Approval

A budget provision of ₹50 crore for the Surguja Tribal Development Authority for the fiscal year 2025-26 was approved. Additionally, a financial sanction of ₹49.05 crore was granted for 543 development works based on proposals presented by regional representatives. These works are aimed at enhancing the region’s infrastructure, including vital utilities like water and electricity.

Strict Deadline for Completion of Development Works

The Chief Minister instructed that all approved projects be completed within the prescribed timelines and with the highest quality. He further directed that all pending works be completed by March. “Any negligence in providing basic facilities, like drinking water, will not be tolerated,” he said, emphasizing the importance of ensuring adequate water supply during the upcoming summer season.

Electrification in Sonhat Development Block

During the meeting, it was highlighted that the electrification work under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana is progressing rapidly in the Sonhat development block of the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district. Chief Minister Sai urged officials to ensure the timely and quality completion of all approved projects so that the benefits of these initiatives reach the tribal and forested communities.

Solar Lighting and Other Key Directives

The Chief Minister also instructed the installation of high-mast solar lights in affected areas, the resolution of farmers’ issues, and the rectification of electricity bill errors. He warned of strict action against substandard construction works.

Tourism Development in Baikunthpur

Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, funds have been approved for tourism development in the region. Chief Minister Sai mentioned that the previous meeting held in Mayali, Jashpur district, resulted in increased recognition of the area as a tourist destination, including the inclusion of the world’s largest Shivling in the Golden Book of World Records. He expressed confidence that the current meeting in Baikunthpur would further boost the district’s tourism prospects.

The meeting was attended by several prominent leaders and officials, including Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Authority Vice President Gomati Sai, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade, Tourism and Culture Minister Rajesh Agarwal, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Industries Minister Lakhanlal Devangan, MP Chintamani Maharaj, MLAs, senior officials, and other local representatives.
