Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today laid the foundation for the Mayali-Bagicha Development Project at Mayali Nature Camp under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 (CBDD sub-scheme). With an estimated investment of ₹10 crore, the project aims to develop modern tourism facilities in Mayali, the world-famous Madheshwar Mountain—home to the world’s largest natural Shivalinga—and the Bagicha Kailash Cave area.
Focus on Community-Based and Eco-Tourism
The Mayali-Bagicha project will preserve the region’s natural, cultural, and tribal heritage while promoting community-based tourism. It is expected to create new employment opportunities for local youth and establish Jashpur district as a prominent tourism hub.
Chief Minister Sai said, “This initiative is a historic step for tourism development in Jashpur. Mayali is emerging rapidly on the tourism map and will evolve into a global tourism destination in the coming years.”

Comprehensive Tourism Infrastructure
The project plans include the development of:
- Home-stays and resorts near Mayali Dam
- Tourist cottages, conference and convention halls
- Skill Development Center for training in tourism, hotel services, adventure sports, handicrafts, and digital bookings
- Modern landscaping, pathways, entry gates, boundary walls, and sanitation facilities
Additionally, the Shiv Mandir area will see development of entry points, toilets, landscaped pathways, and safety measures, while Bagicha Kailash Cave will get picnic spots, resting sheds, ghats, steps, and railing renovation.
Promoting Religious and Adventure Tourism
CM Sai emphasized that Mayali’s religious and adventure tourism potential will be enhanced. The region’s forests, waterfalls, hills, and rich tribal culture will be showcased to national and international tourists, while tourism revenue will directly benefit local communities.
The home-stay policy will allow rural families to earn income through tourism while giving visitors a closer experience of local culture.
Skill Development and Employment Opportunities
The project will also establish a Skill Development Center, providing training for:
- Tour guides

This initiative aims to strengthen the social, cultural, and economic identity of Jashpur district on both national and global platforms.
