Raipur: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Mr. Amit Shah today chaired a high-level security review meeting on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Chhattisgarh. The discussions also covered ongoing and planned development projects in the state.
The meetings were attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Special Secretary (Internal Security), Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, and DG-level officials from central forces including CRPF, NIA, BSF, ITBP, as well as Home Secretaries and DGPs from Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra.
Naxalism Nears Its End
Addressing the meeting, Amit Shah emphasized that Chhattisgarh, once a stronghold of Naxal violence, has now become a symbol of development under the double engine government led by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
He highlighted the security-centric strategy implemented by the Centre and the Chhattisgarh government, which includes:
- Targeted strikes on the Naxal financial network
- Effective surrender and rehabilitation policy for Naxals
- Development of infrastructure in affected areas
Mr. Shah expressed confidence that Naxalism will be completely eradicated from the country by March 31, 2026, marking a historic achievement in India’s internal security efforts.

Focus on Youth and Development
The Home Minister praised the youth of Chhattisgarh for contributing to progress in multiple sectors:
- Sports
- Forensic science
- Technical education
He also noted that while embracing modern development, the youth are preserving the state’s rich culture and traditions.
Mr. Shah stressed that the ongoing fight against Naxals must be coordinated and focused, warning that remaining Naxals should not be allowed to escape to other states. He also emphasized the need to ensure equal development opportunities for residents in previously affected areas.
Security and Development Go Hand in Hand
Mr. Amit Shah reiterated that Chhattisgarh has achieved remarkable progress on both security and development fronts, combining robust policing measures with socioeconomic initiatives to uplift local communities.
He concluded by asserting that the government is leaving no stone unturned to make India completely Naxal-free, bringing generations out of the shadow of poverty and illiteracy.
