Chhattisgarh Records 87 Lakh Tonnes Paddy Procurement Under MSP, ₹7,771 Crore Paid to Farmers

‘Tuhar Token’ App Streamlines Procurement Process, Government Takes Strict Action Against Illegal Paddy Transport and Storage
Indian Masterminds Stories

Raipur: Chhattisgarh is witnessing a rapid pace of paddy procurement this season, with over 8.7 million tonnes of paddy purchased under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme across Raipur and the rest of the state. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government has ensured timely payments of ₹7,771 crore to farmers, providing them significant financial relief and support for the upcoming sowing season. The use of the ‘Tuhar Token’ app has made the procurement process faster and more convenient for farmers.

Uninterrupted MSP Paddy Procurement

According to the Agriculture Department, paddy is being procured from registered farmers at the MSP declared by the central government for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025-26. A total of 2,739 procurement centres have been set up across the state to facilitate smooth operations. The procurement season began on 15 November 2025 and will continue until 31 January 2026, ensuring farmers have ample time to sell their produce.

Focus on Farmer Convenience

The government has issued clear instructions to officials to avoid any inconvenience to farmers at procurement centres. Proper arrangements have been made to manage the procurement smoothly, while strict vigilance against illegal paddy transport and sale ensures that honest farmers receive their rightful payments.

Increase in Farmer Registration

This year, farmer registration has seen a significant rise. A total of 27.40 lakh farmers have registered for paddy procurement through the Integrated Farmer Portal and AgriStack Portal, covering an area of 34.39 lakh hectares. Compared to last year, this represents a 7.5% increase in farmer registration and a 19% increase in land coverage.

The government has also exempted certain categories of farmers from AgriStack registration, including institutional farmers, landless farmers, farmers from submergence-affected areas, forest rights holders, and village-level government landholders. Registration is still ongoing for eligible farmers.

‘Tuhar Token’ App Simplifies Procurement

To make the procurement process more efficient, the state government introduced the ‘Tuhar Token’ app, which allows farmers to generate 24-hour tokens for procurement. Farmers can now book tokens for up to the next 20 days, reducing waiting times at centres. So far, 17.24 lakh tokens have been issued, facilitating the purchase of 87 lakh tonnes of paddy.

Timely Payments Provide Relief

As of 11 December 2025, the government has disbursed ₹7,771 crore directly to farmers’ accounts, ensuring quick financial support. This has helped farmers cover their immediate expenses and plan for the next stage of farming.

Strict Action Against Illegal Paddy

To curb illegal paddy transport and sale, the government has formed special investigation teams in districts, including officers from Revenue, Food, Cooperative, Forest, and Market departments. At the state level, a State Integrated Command and Control Centre under MARKFED has been set up to monitor procurement and prevent malpractices.

So far, authorities have registered over 2,000 cases of illegal paddy transport and storage, seizing nearly 1.93 lakh tonnes of illicit paddy, reflecting the government’s commitment to protecting farmers’ interests.

Chhattisgarh’s robust procurement system under MSP, combined with digital solutions like the Tuhar Token app and strict monitoring of illegal activities, has ensured smooth, transparent, and timely paddy purchase. The government’s proactive measures continue to provide economic relief to farmers while securing the state’s food supply chain.
